Money Smart Week®
Money Smart® Week takes place April 18 through 25, 2015. Money Smart® Week was created by the Chicago Federal Reserve in 2002. Similar to America Saves Week the purpose of the initiative is to create more public awareness for better personal finance and money management skills among consumers of all ages.
Check the Money Smart website to see if your city will hosting an event. Some cities will be offering essay competitions for kids. For example, in Atlanta kids are being asked to write an essay responding to the question – what does money smart mean to you? While in Bloomington Illinois, and other locations kids are being asked – what is the biggest obstacle to saving your money? And in Iowa, kids are being provided the opportunity to enter a drawing contest in addition to the essay contest. You can also find information and tips on the Money Smart Week® Facebook page.
April 21: Oklahoma State University Service Learning Volunteer Center will be conducting Dream Big Day Reader Leader training for its students. The training takes place at 7 pm, at the Wes Watkins Center, Room 108.
April 23: Leslie Girone of Money Smart 101 will be leading a Dream Big Day Experience at the Free Library of Philadelphia at noon. Leslie will be leading children in a reading of the children’s storybook Sammy’s Big Dream!
